Fun with the Water Hose

Saturday was so hot! After Zach and I made our trip to Desoto Falls that afternoon, we came home and played outside with our dogs. Cosmo has always loved playing in the water. Daisy has always been really good with her baths, but she apparently hates the water hose. Zach started it up and Cosmo was right in the middle of the fun. He snapped at the water and was soaking wet after a few minutes. Daisy, on the other hand, stayed in one spot the entire time-- right behind me. She stayed right at my feet the whole time Zach had the water hose out. I guess she enjoyed watching Cosmo have all the fun.

This was also Father's Day weekend. We had a great time on Friday night taking Gordon (Zach's dad) and Grandma out to eat in Rome. On Sunday, we went to Gadsden with my family and ate and shopped a little. I hope everyone had a great Father's Day!!

New Mattress

For those of you that know or have heard me talk about it, Zach and I have been waiting to get a new mattress for a while now. Even after we ordered it, we had to wait a few weeks before it came in. It finally came in a couple of weeks ago and we love it!! We were used to sleeping in a full bed together, so our new king Tempur-Pedic has been an AWESOME change! I wanted to include a picture of our bed after it has been made. I actually bought the comforter and throw pillows months ago and have kept them in the corner of our bedroom. We had also bought our sheets for the bed right after we got married with our Bed Bath & Beyond gift cards, so we've had them waiting for a while too. Now we finally have the mattress to put them on!

"Up"

I'm not big on posting links to articles on here, but I just had to post this one. It really tugs at your heart. Zach had told me about it last night and then I saw the article online today. My homepage, which is MSN (only because I am constantly checking my hotmail account), showed a picture of the little girl and she is such a beautiful child! Her dying wish was to see the movie "Up." She had cancer and it was so advanced that she was not even able to go to a theatre to see the movie. After being contacted by a friend of her family, an employee of Pixar hand-delivered a DVD copy of the movie to the little girl and her parents for her to watch. She was able to hear it, but had to keep her eyes closed for the most part. Her mother would describe to her everything that was going on in the movie. So sadly, she died later that night.

The ironic and meaningful part of the story is that the movie's basis is to live life to the fullest, with the story being centered around a little girl's "Adventure Book." The article I posted the link to below gives more detail to the meaning, so check it out when you have time...and Kleenex nearby.

Zach and I watched this movie a few weeks ago and it really meant a lot to us, especially as a young couple starting our lives together. Who knows, maybe we'll start our own "Adventure Book." I hope that for us, our adventure has just begun! :)

I Am Thankful

I received this really good email forward from Linda Troxtel the other day (she was my wedding planner.) It really makes you think, so I thought I would post it on here.

I Am Thankful:

-For the wife who says it's hot dogs tonight, because she is home with me, and not out with someone else.
-For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato, because he is home with me and not out at the bars.
-For the teenager who is complaining about doing the dishes, because it means they are at home, not on the streets.
- For the taxes I pay, because it means I am employed.
- For the mess to clean after a party, because it means I have been surrounded by family and friends.
-For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.
-For my shadow that watches me, because it means I am in the sunshine.
-For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.
-For all the complaining I hear about the government, because it means we have freedom of speech.
-For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and I have been blessed with transportation.
-For my huge heating/air bill, because it means I am warm/cool.
-For the lady behind me in church who sings off key, because it means I can hear, and am able to be in church.
-For the pile of laundry and ironing, because it means I have clothes to wear.
- For weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working.
-For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours, because it means I am alive.

Great Weekend!

We just had a really busy, but great weekend! Friday right after work, we met at home and began loading up our vehicles with things for our yard sale on Saturday. After little sleep, we got up at 4:00 on Saturday morning and spent the day selling! We were really pleased with the turn out and made some much-needed extra cash. We also freed up a lot of space around the house...for new stuff! :)

After the yard sale, we headed to the big town of Sand Rock to get our wedding album- FINALLY!! I've already looked through it several times and still can't get enough! I'm so happy that we now have it at home (well, we will after it makes its rounds to everyone!) I've also ordered some to hang up in the house and I can't wait for those to get here!!

On Sunday, we went to church that morning and then headed to Chattanooga. We enjoyed pizza for lunch at Fat Daddy's- one of Zach's discoveries- and then popcorn at the movies, of course! We saw "Up," and it was FANTASTIC! We laughed and cried a little...well, I did I know! It was nice to have a day of relaxation after the long day we had on Saturday.

Now that the weekend is over and we have some extra space in the house, I'm going to take every night this week and organize the house...jealous? :) Our new Tempur-Pedic mattress should be delivered by this Friday, which is another big thing we can cross off of our list! It's so exciting to get these things done!!
